This full day 4x4 tour is for designed especially for adventures. You'll journey along dirt roads, mountain passes and through Crete's charming villages as you explore the island's hidden gems and vast panoramic scenery.

We'll get stuck straight in with an off-road drive through the rocky mountains of Lefka Ori in western Crete, where winding mountain roads snake their way through immense gorges, plateaus, bubbling rivers and sleepy villages. You'll also stop off at a typical village kafenio – café – for an insight into local life.

There's then a break for a typical lunch box. All the way, you'll experience Crete at its purest as you bump down dirt roads and bounce over rocky tracks. We'll drive to photo stops with some of the best views over the island – a real day of exploration.

    De natuur was geweldig alsmede de uitzichten. Na het eten was de dag alleen snel ten einde, wellicht had een activiteit in de middag een wat evenwichtigere beleving opgeleverd.

    Veel te duur voor wat het is!! In de 4x4 was vanachter geen airco, als je helemaal vanachter zat, moest je erin kruipen (niet voor oudere mensen dus) ook niet voor als je wat groter bent, heel weinig beenruimte. De rit zelf is vrij saai… het 1nige goede was dat het eten lekker was in een plaatselijk restaurantje. Dus zeker zijn geld niet waart.

    Het toeren met de jeep was fantastisch maar de bezienswaardigheden die in de excursie stonden vermeld vond ik wat tegenvallen. Bij de hostess kregen we via de iPad te zien wat er die dag allemaal word gedaan zoals ook hoe olijfolie word gemaakt en ook honing. We gingen na het middageten met de jeep rechtstreeks naar het hotel terug na een mooie weg door de bergen dus waren we rond 3 uur weer terug terwiijl de hostess zei dat het tot ongeveer 5 uur zou duren . Al met al toch de moeite waard

There's a chance to have a go at making ceramics and a visit to the Mythological Park, too. Katerina, one of our expert local guides, enthusiastically says, ‘Lassithi plateau is a personal favourite on this tour. You'll be greeted by the sight of dozens of windmills that dot the landscape. They were built in the 19th century to grind grain, and are now a symbol of the region.'Kick off on a trail which climbs into the mountains to reach the first stop at the Aposelimi dam. From here we'll make our way to a viewpoint where we can see across the Lassithi plateau, a high, fertile plain that legend states was the birthplace of Zeus.Rumbling down to the plateau, we'll head to a ceramics workshop and olive oil producer. It's a fun stop for the kids who will have plenty of time to have a go at making their own pottery creations. Next up is the Mythological park, where you'll find out all about ancient Greek myths - the special lighting and sound effects alongside the audio tour make the park enjoyable for all ages. Round off the day with a late lunch in a taverna, before calling in at the village of Krassi, which is famous for a 2,000-year old plane tree and has a natural spring water source.
