We were staying at the La Palma Princess hotel and spa and given the recent volcanic eruption this boat trip weren't doing transfers so we.decided to hire a car and take in the boat trip as part of a day exploring the island. The drive was spectacular. We saw a lot of whales and dolphins and the staff and guides were very helpful. The sea was quite choppy but that might also explain why we saw so much. Well worth the money.
La Palma has been doubly blessed by Mother Nature. Not only is the island one of the most beautiful corners of the world, it's also surrounded by seas full of whales and dolphins. The experienced crew of the Flipper, with a marine biologist onboard, will take you to areas where, with a bit of luck, you'll spot these amazing creatures.
Sailing out of Tazacorte on the west coast, your sea safari will glide in the shadow of epic volcanic cliffs. The onboard biologist will give you the lowdown on the marine life off western La Palma – a habitat to at least 29 types of cetaceans.
You'll sail as far north as the Cueva Bonita, a grotto carved by the force of the sea into 200m-high volcanic cliffs. This cruise out lasts around three hours and is available as a morning or an afternoon excursion.
