De show bevat getalenteerde artiesten – een zanger en twee muzikanten (Portugese gitaar en klassieke gitaar) – die fado spelen en de muziek die het tot nationaal lied maakt. De liveoptredens worden begeleid door beelden van unieke, niet te missen locaties in Lissabon. Fado combineert naar verluidt nostalgie (saudade), Portugese trots, hoop en conformisme in een muziekstijl die Amália Rodrigues belichaamt. Vanwege deze unieke kenmerken is fado inmiddels door UNESCO uitgeroepen tot immaterieel cultureel erfgoed van de mensheid.
