De permanente tentoonstelling presenteert ongeveer 3500 stukken verdeeld over geografische gebieden: Oceanië, Azië, Afrika en Amerika. De tentoonstelling wordt gepresenteerd als een doorlopend 'circuit', aan weerszijden vanaf een centraal gangpad dat is vormgegeven als een rivier. Themaruimtes of "dozen" doorkruisen het tentoonstellingsparcours om een specifieke regio of een bepaald type werk te belichten. De wens om deze rijke en gevarieerde collecties te presenteren en de kwetsbaarheid vanaf sommige werken leiden tot frequente museografische veranderingen.

    Les expositions et les œuvres sont superbes et parfaitement expliquées. Mais l’accueil est déplorable, toutes les personnes dans le musée ont été froids, distants et donnaient l’impression d’être dérangées à la moindre question. Seul la personne à qui nous avons rendu les audio guide a été souriant
